Southeast of Eugene near Roseburg in the Umpqua National Forest, the Crater Trail Loop follows abandon road for a 21 mile round-trip with vistas of Mt. Bailey and Diamond Lake. The loop combines trails #1457 and #1410. To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Roseburg, follow SR138 south. Near Diamond Lake, turn west on FS4795 for 0.3 miles to Howlock Mountain trailhead on the left.

Overall, Crater Trail Loop is the 37th most popular mountain bike trail of all 56 mountain biking rides in Oregon. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Crater Trail Loop including North Umpqua River Trail and Waldo Lake Trail.
