West of Hood River, the Post Canyon area is a local favorite. Many consider this are to be the best riding in Oregon. The trails are loamy dirt singletracks through second growth forest. The Mitchell Ridge and Seven Springs trails are a must mountain bike ride. These trails could be ridden daily without ever getting bored. Watch out when wet due to the off-camber and clay tread!
To reach the Post Canyon Staging Area from downtown Hood River, head west on Cascade Street. Turn left on Country Club Road and go up the hill. Turn right heading west on Post Canyon Road. Just when the road turns to dirt, park and look for the obvious but marked trailhead. There is limited parallel parking on the right side of the narrow dirt road. This area would be very difficult to turn around a trailer.
Description - A stunt park that rivals British Columbia! There are gap jumps, smaller jumps, skinnies, super skinnies, ladder bridges, teeter-totters that all dot the landscape. There are stunts in every direction and some that seem to go on and on and on! The cool thing is that there are varying degrees of difficulty. There are always go-arounds and in between the stunts is beautiful hard-packed singletrack. Something for everybody here.
Overall, Post Canyon is the 1st most popular mountain bike trail of all 56 mountain biking rides in Oregon. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Post Canyon including Jordan Creek Trails, Dog River Trail, Fifteen Mile Creek / Cedar Run Trails, Gunsight / Bennet Pass / Gumjuwac Trails, Knebal Spring / Bottle Praire Trail, Lookout Mountain / High Praire Loop Trail, Sahalie/Umbrella Falls Trails, .
