Southwest of Sumter and south of Wedgefield, the 23,000 acre Manchester State Forest has 100 miles of road and trails through flowering mountain laurel and red cedar.
The Killer Three Loop (7.5 mi.) is a rolling singletrack through sandy bottoms across many creeks and among hardwoods draped with Spanish moss. Dogwoods, magnolias and azalea dot this forest.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Sumter, follow SR378 west 16 miles and then head south on SR261 for 10 miles. Turn west onto CR63 (Poinsett Road) and park on left 1 mile down.
Overall, Manchester State Forest is the 3rd most popular mountain bike trail of all 16 mountain biking rides in South Carolina.
