Buncombe Trail For Mountain Biking

The 8th most popular mountain bike trail in South Carolina.

Located halfway between Spartanburg and Columbia in the Sumter National Forest, the Buncombe Trail is a 31.5 mile mountain biking loop shared by hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. This white blazed trail winds through forested hills and valley terrain with several stream crossings. Points of interest include old cemeteries, wagon roads, and plantation sites. Opportunities also exist to view various wildlife species and abundant plant life. With interconnecting loops, routes of various lengths can be formed.

From SC66 (3.5 miles east of I-26), turn south on Forest Service Road 358. Left side of road is trail-head parking. Brick House Campground is 0.3 mile farther south.

Overall, Buncombe Trail is the 8th most popular mountain bike trail of all 16 mountain biking rides in South Carolina.
