North of Vernal and southeast of Manila in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, the Death Valley mountain bike ride is a rugged 15 mile round trip on double track through desert scrub. It offers scenic views of the high peaks of the Uinta Mountains. The blazed route ends at the top of Sheep Creek Hill with a vista over Lake Flaming Gorge. There is a short steep descent into Death Valley with lots of rocks followed by a short steep ascent up Sheep Creek Hill.

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Manila, head south on SR44. Look for unsigned Death Valley Road climbing sharply west between milepost 16 and 17. It is easy to miss. There is minimal roadside parking.

Overall, Death Valley Trail is the 13th most popular mountain bike trail of all 73 mountain biking rides in Utah. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Death Valley Trail including Dowd Mountain Loop Trail, Elk Park Loop Trail, Swett Ranch Loop, Red Canyon Rim Trail and Kings Point Loop Trail.
