Southeast of Jackson Hole, the Cache Creek Trail System provides fabulous mountain biking close to town. This is an exceptional mountain bike trail system linking Cache Creek, Game Creek and the Snow King ski area trail system. The trails in this system can be linked to form a variety of loops, especially when including the South Valley Pathway multi-purpose trail. The trail intersections are marked and number coded.
East of Jackson Hole, there is the Cache Creek Trail System. In the Cache Creek Trail System, the main trails are the Cache Creek Trail running up the center of the valley near the namesake creek, the Hagen Trail above the southern side of the creek, and the Putt Putt Trail running above the northern side of the creek. This trail system is served by two trailheads: Nelson Road trailhead and Cache Creek trailhead.
On the south side of Jackson Hole, there is the Snow King Mountain trail system. It is accessible directly from the ski area base via dirt roads used for ski area maintenance. In the Snow King Mountain trail system, the main trails are the Sink-Or-Swim Trail accessing the ski area base, the Ferrins trail running up to the summit for access to the Game Creek Trail System, and the Hagen Highway that connects to the Cache Creek Trail System.
South of Jackson Hole, there is the Game Creek trail system. In the Game Creek trail system, the main trails are the Game Creek Trail that leads over to Cache Creek and the West Game Creek Trail that leads to the summit above Snow King ski area. The Game Creek trailhead is located south of Jackson and can be accessed via the South Valley Pathway.
The most popular loop in this trail system is the 23 mile Cache Creek / Game Creek Loop that connects with the South Valley Pathway. The loop starts at the Snow King base area and ascends Sink-Or-Swim Trail to reach the Hagen Highway. It follows the Hagen Highway east through pine and aspen forest towards the Hagen Trail (alternately, you could follow Putt-Putt Trail or Cache Creek Sidewalk Trail eastbound). As these trails end down at the Cache Creek Trail, continue east on the lush Cache Creek Trail. Then after heading further east on the Cache Creek Trail, turn right heading south on the Game Creek Trail heading up to the saddle and then prepare for the five mile descent down 1,300 feet to Game Creek Road. The Game Creek Trail is a winding, hard packed singletrack through aspen forest and meadows. The last mile or so is on doubletrack as it approaches the trailhead. After a mile egress on road, pick up the South Valley Pathway for the ride north back into Jackson Hole.
Overall, Cache Creek Trail System is the 1st most popular mountain bike trail of all 19 mountain biking rides in Wyoming.
