Skippers Canyon Track For Mountain Biking
The 5th most popular mountain bike trail in New Zealand.

Northeast of Queenstown, the Skippers Canyon Track is a 5km singletrack descending through dry bush. The track connects with 4WD routes to form extended mountain bike rides.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Queenstown, head north on Shotover Street. Turn left on Gorge Road (which becomes Arthur Point Road and then Malaghan Road) for 7km. Turn left heading up Coronet Peak Ski Area road for 4.5km. Turn left up Skippers Road for 0.6km to Skipper Saddle parking area.
The track heads down the other side parallel to Skippers Road just beyond the fence. It is a 5km mountain bike ride north down to Skippers Road again. You can either mountain bike ride the road back up to the parking area or continue north on the road to explore Skippers Canyon ghost town (about another 11km ahead).
Overall, Skippers Canyon Track is the 5th most popular mountain bike trail of all 41 mountain biking rides in New Zealand.
