Northeast of Moscow and Potlach in the Clearwater National Forest, the dryland pine forest between the NFS Giant White Pine campground and the North-South Ski Bowl at Palouse Divide has over 20 miles of trails through old growth timber and cleared areas with great vistas. Start with the Tree Butte Trail #26 (3.5 mi.) from the campground north to the Bowl, and return via either the East Dennis Trail #223 (3.5 mi.), East Fork Meadow Creek Trail #224 (5.5 mi.), or the Old Sampson Trail #221 (4 mi) all accessed via FS377. Another trail to check out is Beason Meadows #228 (8 mi.) which leads up to Bald Mountain Lookout.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Moscow, follow US95 north to SR6 through Potlach and Harvard. Use parking areas near the campgroud or the North-South Ski Bowl.
Overall, Palouse Divide is the 14th most popular mountain bike trail of all 63 mountain biking rides in Idaho. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Palouse Divide including Elk River Trails and Sand Mountain Trail.
