Northeast of Payson near Heber in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the Long Draw Route is a 30 mile loop through ponderosa pine forest for dirt biking. Start either at the Long Draw North trailhead at Chevelon Crossing or the Long Draw South trailhead at Chevelon Lake. The route travels mostly along established forest service roads, which are either well-maintained gravel or dirt.
Near Eagar in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the 25 mile Saffell Canyon Trail includes some of the most spectacular views in the White Mountains open to dirt biking. The trail begins at an elevation of 7,600 feet at Saffel Canyon and climbs to 9,400 feet at Pat Knoll. The trail goes through three distinct vegetation zones: pinon-juniper, ponderosa pine, and mixed conifer.
