Near Anchorage, the Bald Mountain Trail is a 22 mile route up Bald Mountain from 700 feet to 3400 feet. The Bald Mountain Trail is an EXTREMELY steep, rocky, and challenging trail. Be aware that there are many search and rescues on this trail. It is best to contact the local BLM law enforcement officer to ask about current trail conditions.
To reach the dirt biking trailhead from Anchorage, head north on the Glen Highway (State Route 1) toward Palmer. Turn left onto State Route 3 (Parks Highway) toward Denali. Just after you pass through Wasilla, turn right on Church Road. Church road will T into East Schrock Road after about 4.1 miles. Turn left onto E Shrock Road, then right onto Sitze Road. You will pass Softwinds Road on your left, and the parking area is on your left before you get to Solitude Street. There is no sign for the trailhead, so keep your eye out for the trail.
