Long Draw Route For Dirt Biking

Northeast of Payson near Heber in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the Long Draw Route is a 30 mile loop through ponderosa pine forest for dirt biking. Start either at the Long Draw North trailhead at Chevelon Crossing or the Long Draw South trailhead at Chevelon Lake. The route travels mostly along established forest service roads, which are either well-maintained gravel or dirt. The quality of the roads deteriorates near the southern trailhead.
To reach the dirt biking from the Long Draw North trailhead from Heber, head west on SR260 for one mile. Turn north on FS504 for 17 miles to the Chevelon Crossing Campground.
To reach the Long Draw South trailhead from Heber, head west on SR260 for one mile. Turn north on FS504 for 18 miles past the Chevelon Crossing Campground to FS169. Turn southwest on FS169 for 12 miles to FS169B. Turn northwest and drive for 2 miles to Chevelon Lake Campground.
Overall, Long Draw Route is the 14th most popular dirt bike trail of all 46 dirt biking rides in Arizona. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Long Draw Route including Black Canyon ORV Trail and Saffell Canyon Trail.
