West of Chino Valley near Camp Wood, the Sheridan Mountain / Smith Mesa OHV Trail System consists of 42 miles of trails through caparral and ponderosa pine forest.

There are three staging areas for dirt biking in the Sheridan Mountain and Smith Mesa area; near Camp Wood in the north, near Stinson Mountain in the north, and near Spider Ranch in the southeast.
