East of Ft Smith and Paris in the Ozark National Forest, the Huckleberry Mountain Trail consists of two scenic main loops which offer 34.3 miles of the most scenic riding in the Ozark National Forest. Deep winding valleys framed by rugged mountain bluffs give way to clear mountain streams. The trail is shared by hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and ATVs.

The 22.4-mile Huckleberry Mountain Loop is orange blazed and contains a 9.5-mile loop for those seeking a shorter trail. The Apple Loop provides an 11.9-mile loop. Each trail crosses several gravel roads, allowing you to plan trips from one-half mile to 34.3 miles. Portions of the trail are located along old logging roads and open forest roads.

The trail system meanders through numerous creeks and along several ponds, which provide sources for watering horses. Pond locations not adjacent to the trail are designated by signs and blue arrows on markers.

The trail has five main access points, one of which is the Sorghum Camp. This campground has 15 developed sites with centrally located vault toilets, but no electricity or water. The trail rates mild to rough, with deep winding valleys surrounded by rugged mountain bluffs giving way to clear mountain streams. A 5.3-mile section of the Huckleberry loop is the most rugged, crossing Shoal Creek half a dozen times. The creek is passable most of the year. Much of the trail consists of old forest roads that have some rocky areas but many scenic qualities.

To reach the dirt biking trailhead from Paris, head east on SR22 for 11 miles to Sorghum Hollow Road. Turn south on Sorghum Hollow Road for 4.7 miles to the Sorghum Hollow Campground parking area.

Overall, Huckleberry Mountain ORV Trail is the 8th most popular dirt bike trail of all 12 dirt biking rides in Arkansas. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Huckleberry Mountain ORV Trail including Mill Creek ORV Trail System, Brock Creek ORV Trails, Moccasin Gap Horse Trail and Byrds Adventure Center.
