North of the Grand Junction airport, the Grand Valley OHV Area has 17 sq. miles of desert terrain with open space off-road motorcycle trails riding permitted. There are rolling barren hills of mancos shale.
DIRECTIONS: From I-70, take the Horizon Drive exit. From the off ramp, go northeast on Horizon Drive, heading towards the airport. Take a left on H Road (this is the last road before you drive into the airport). Follow H Road around the curve to 27-1/4 Rd, turn right on to 27-1/4 Rd, travel 1.5 miles, you will see the trails off to your right. At this point, it is BLM property on both sides of 27-1/4 Rd; you will see several places suited for parking and offloading your OHVs.
NOTE: Motorized vehicle use is permitted only on existing roads and trails.
Note: Colorado residents must register their off-highway vehicle with the Colorado State Parks (303) 866-3437. Non-residents are not required to register in Colorado, if they are registered in their home states. All off-highway vehicles must have an approved muffler and spark arrester. These requirements are subject to change so make sure to contact the Colorado State Parks prior to using your off-highway vehicle.
Overall, Grand Valley ORV Area is the 22nd most popular dirt bike trail of all 93 dirt biking rides in Colorado.
