South of Mountain Lake Park, the 10.5 mile Potomac River Trail system consists of multi-use roads linking the main campgrounds that are open to dirt biking.

To reach the dirt bikiing trailhead for the Potomac River Trail from SR560, head east on Audrey Riley Road for 2.5 miles.

Overall, Potomac River Trail is the 6th most popular dirt bike trail of all 13 dirt biking rides in Maryland. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Potomac River Trail including Backbone Mountain Riding Trail, Garrett Trail Riding System, Piney Mountain Trail and Wallman Road.
