Big Aspen Trail For Dirt Biking

North of Duluth and Virginia in the Superior National Forest, the Big Aspen Trail is a 20 mile multi-purpose route. The looping trail system follows old logging roads and railroad grades while passing through pine and hardwood forests. It has a hard-packed dirt and grass surface. This trail is popular with hikers, mountain bikers, horseback and off-road motorcycle riders.

To reach the trailhead from Virginia, head north on SR53 for 8 miles. Turn right on CR131 for 1 mile. Turn left on CR68 for 0.3 miles. Continue straight on CR405 for 2 miles to parking lot.

Overall, Big Aspen Trail is the 8th most popular dirt bike trail of all 22 dirt biking rides in Minnesota. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Big Aspen Trail including General Andrews State Forest, Upper Willow Loop, Yellow Birch Trail, St Croix State Forest, Gandy Dancer Trail and Echo Valley Motocross Track.
