Johnson Hill For Dirt Biking

The 2nd most popular offroad motorcycle trail in New Mexico.

South of Albequerque and north of Socorro, the Johnson Hill area has miles of trails shared by mountain bikers and off-road motorcycle riders.

To reach the trailhead from Socorro, head north on US25 for 1 mile to the Escondida exit. Turn right heading east. At intersection veer left heading north. Continue north on road parallel to canals. Turn right on road over Escondida Bridge. There is a parking area just past the bridge on the right or continue on the road to the intersection, turn left and follow road for about 0.5 miles to the second parking area.

Overall, Johnson Hill is the 2nd most popular dirt bike trail of all 14 dirt biking rides in New Mexico. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Johnson Hill including Haystack Mountain OHV Recreation Area, Willie White Trail, Mescalero Sands North Dunes OHV Area and Sandia Motocross Park.
