North of Cashiers and southeast of Sylva in the Nantahala National Forest, the Wayehutta ATV Trail System (aka Roy A Taylor ATV Trail System) has 28 miles of looping ORV trails open to dirt bike riding. This is a very popular family oriented trail system.

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of I-40 and I-26 in Asheville, go west on I-40 for 18.5 miles. Go southwest on US 23 / US 74 and travel 22 miles. Go south on US 23 Business towards Sylva and go 1.6 miles. Take a left (south) on SR 107 and go 3 miles. Turn left on SR 1002 (Old Cullumbee Road) and travel 3.2 miles. Go left on SR 1732 and go about 1 mile. Take a left on SR 1731 (Wayehutta Road) and go 3.8 miles to the Trailhead.

The trail system is maintained by the Smoky Mountain Off-Road Vehicle Club. To ride at this area, you must pay a fee at the self-pay station and carry the receipt with you at all times. All trail vehicles must have a spark arrestor installed and have a muffler (max 99dBa).

Overall, Wayehutta Riding Area is the 1st most popular dirt bike trail of all 14 dirt biking rides in North Carolina.
