West of Tulsa around Keystone Lake, the Appalachia Bay ORV Area has sandy trails open to off-road motorcycle trails riding over 600 acres. Also known as Motorcycle Island, the terrain is sandy and ranges from open beaches to wooded trails. Moderate elevation changes keep the wooded areas interesting and a large circuit of sandy trails meander through very tall briars.

The trailhead is located at 23115 W. Wekiwa Road in Sand Springs. To reach the trail from Tulsa, head west on US412 past Sand Springs. Just across the bridge, use the exit for Appalachia Bay/Washington Irving. Turn right, and then right again to cross over highway. Turn left and follow the road to recreation area. The gate to the ORV area is just past the entrance on your left.

Overall, Appalachia Bay ORV Area is the 6th most popular dirt bike trail of all 13 dirt biking rides in Oklahoma.
