Southwest of Warren, the Rocky Gap ORV Trail is a 20.8 mile loop trail traversing the forested hills of the Allegheny National Forest. It was constructed for the enjoyment of motorbike riders of intermediate and expert skill level. C The trail is open from the Friday before Memorial Day to the last Sunday in September; and December 20 to April 1. Inclement wet weather may cause the trails to close in short notice--when in doubt, please call ahead.
Finding the Trail: The trailhead parking lot is located along the Warren to Tidioute road, at the intersection of Forest Road (FR) 155 (6 miles south of Warren, PA). You can also access the trail anywhere it crosses a public road. A trail map is available on-line.
Riding the Trail: Once on the trail, riders may travel on any part of the trail system. All ATV trails are marked with yellow, diamond-shaped blazes.
The trail is divided into two sections by the Warren to Tidioute road. The southern section is a two-way trail, 5.3 miles long; the northern section is a one-way trail, 10.5 miles long.
Riding time on the trail will vary depending on your skill level and riding style. An intermediate rider can expect to take up to four hours, while a more experienced rider may cover the trail in one to two hours.
The trail is suitable for both motorcycle and ATV use. However, due to steep side slopes, the ATV user may experience difficulty in some sections. Please exercise extra caution in these areas.
