Patterson Mountain Trail For Dirt Biking

North of Roanoak and east of Eagle Rock, the Patterson Mountain Off Road Vehicle Trail is a varied 15 mile ORV route open to dirt biking. The Patterson Mountain OHV Trail is an exciting trail off-road motorcycle enthusiasts. Almost 15 miles of trail contain challenges for users of differing skill levels.

To access the dirt biking trailhead from Roanoke, head north on US220. Just past Eagle Rock, turn left onto SSR615 at the Roaring Run Sign. Proceed about 1.5 miles, turning left headin south on SSR685. After crossing Craig Creek, bear left at fork in the road to head west on SSR818. Travel west about 2 miles and turn left heading south on FDR 5020 (known locally as the O&I Road). Proceed south about 3 miles to trailhead parking on the left. There is no fee for using or parking at this site.

The Patterson Mountain OHV Trail will be open from dawn till dusk during the following months: June 16 - September 30 and December 8 - March 15.

Overall, Patterson Mountain Trail is the 3rd most popular dirt bike trail of all 12 dirt biking rides in Virginia. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Patterson Mountain Trail including Taskers Gap Trail, South Pedlar Trail, Peters Mill Run Trail and Rocky Run Trail.
