From Loretta to Clam Lake, the Dead Horse Run ATV Trail (aka Great Divide Trail) is a challenging 56 mile dirt biking route on forest trails. The trails offer a scenic ride along the East Fork of the Chippewa River and has a view of Dead Horse Slough.

There are two trailheads.

The Camp Loretta Trailhead is located about 2.6 miles north of Loretta off County Road GG.

The Dead Horse Slough Trailhead is east of Loretta in Clam Lake on the north side of SR77.

Overall, Dead Horse Run Trail is the 13th most popular dirt bike trail of all 26 dirt biking rides in Wisconsin. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Dead Horse Run Trail including Flambeau Trail System, Great Divide Trail and Perkinstown Trail.
