West of Monroe, the Cheese Country Trail is a 47 mile dirt biking route along old railgrade from Mineral Point thru Darlington to Monroe. This flat trail traversed farmland and wooded ridges.
There are two dirt biking parking areas to access the Cheese Country Trails, one in Monroe and one in Mineral Point. To reach the Monroe trailhead from the south, take Hwy 69 north to Monroe. Turn left (west) at the first stoplight, 21st St. Follow the brown ATV signs, the parking lot is at the intersection of 21st and 4th Ave west. From the east or west on Hwy 11/81, exit Hwy 69 south. Go through two stoplights and turn right at the third stoplight onto 21st St. The parking lot is at the intersection of 21st and 4th Ave west. To reach the Mineral Point trailhead from Hwy 151, exit # 40 in Mineral Point. The exit curves around the Comfort Inn. Turn left and proceed south on Commerce St and turn left on Old Darlington Rd. From the south or east (Darlington or Hollandale) on Hwy 23 - turn left (south) on Commerce St. Turn left on Old Darlington Rd.
Overall, Cheese Country Trail is the 2nd most popular dirt bike trail of all 23 dirt biking rides in Wisconsin.
