Southwest of Lander in the Shoshone National Forest, the Petes Lake Trail (#720) is a 7.5 mile 4WD route open to off-road motorcycle trails riding. You can actually continue another 10 miles past Petes Lake on the Shoshone Lake Trail if you feel like an extended ride.

To reach the trailhead from Lander, head south on SR131 for about 10 miles to the Middle Fork Guard Station.

Overall, Petes Lake Trail is the 20th most popular dirt bike trail of all 26 dirt biking rides in Wyoming. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Petes Lake Trail including Lander and Shoshone Lake Trail.
