Southwest of Lander in the Shoshone National Forest, the Shoshone Lake Trail (#711) is a 17 mile route open to off-road motorcycle trails riding. The route starts on the Petes Lake Trail (#720) and past Petes Lake it becomes the Shoshone Lake Trail, which leads to the western shore of Shoshone Lake.

To reach the trailhead from Lander, head south on SR131 for about 10 miles to the Middle Fork Guard Station.

Overall, Shoshone Lake Trail is the 6th most popular dirt bike trail of all 26 dirt biking rides in Wyoming. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Shoshone Lake Trail including Lander and Petes Lake Trail.
