North of Sierra City in the Tahoe National Forest, the Sierra Buttes OHV Trail is a 2.2 mile round trip route for dirt biking. This is a popular dirt bike route that receives heavy traffic. The route runs from Sierra City to the Sierra Buttes.
To reach the dirt biking trailhead for the Sierra Buttes OHV Trail from Truckee Take Hwy 89 north through Sierraville. You can either head west on Hwy 49 or on CR S620 (aka Gold Lake Hwy) to reach the trailhead.
