Northeast of San Bernardino and west of Silverwood Lake in the San Bernardino National Forest, the Baldy Mesa / Cleghorn Ridge / Marshall Peak area has miles of off-road motorcycle trails riding routes.
There are two trailheads: Baldy Mesa and Summit.
To reach the Baldy Mesa trailhead from US15, use the Lake Silverwood Exit (SR138). Head north on Baldy Mesa Road (currently dirt), which is directly across from the northboard off ramp. Park anywhere except near the second railroad overpass and beyond.
To reach the Summit trailhead from US 15, use the Lake Silverwood Exit (SR138). Head east on SR138. Turn south on FS3N22 for 0.25 miles and turn west right heading west to parking area.
Note: While there had been reports that this area was closed, as of February 2006, the fire road (forest road) also known as Cleghorn road or Trail 2N47 was open from the staging area off of 138 and small staging area directly off of Interstate 15 --- the road was open to to Silver Lake. Forest Road 2N40 is closed. As of May 2007, we have had reports of gates closed on FS138.
Overall, Baldy Mesa / Cleghorn Ridge / Marshall Peak is the 15th most popular dirt bike trail of all 120 dirt biking rides in California.
