Western Rim Trail Dirt Biking

South of Lewiston in the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, the Western Rim Trail #1174 is a 15 mile route. This one-way ride follows a ridge top from Warnock Corral to Lord Flat on a 4 wheel drive primitive road. Expect to descend and ascend three steep saddles (Indian Grave, 7 Mile, and 9 Mile) making the ride more challenging. There are numerous side trips and adventures are available from this route. The scenery is constant and spectacular with views of the Hells Canyon Wilderness and the Snake River Canyon. A memorable fista is from Somers Point looking down the canyon to the Snake River below. The trail is well signed at all juntions, and there are several dispersed campsites along the trail. Lord Flat has an active backcountry airstrip that is utilized by several private planes during hunting season.

To reach the dirt biking trailhead, take Highway #82 south from Enterprise to Joseph. From Joseph, take a left onto State Highway #350 to Imnaha. From Imnaha, follow FS4240 (aka Hat Point Road) for 26 miles to Warnock Corral Trailhead. There is designated parking at the trailhead.
