South of Woodstock, the 100 acre GoPHER Dunes are open to dirt bike riding. There are 26 kms of groomed trails. The flat trails are wide and clearly marked, offering an easy path to follow. Depending on weather conditions, the trails often provide a challenge for mud-seeking enthusiasts! The trails are set up in 3 sections and do not criss-cross. They are easy to ride for both beginners and veterans alike on bikes and ATVs. The wooded trails provide a scenic ride for nature lovers and off-road enthusiasts
Gopher Dunes dirt biking trails consist of a sandy loam soil and is completely free of rocks. The perimeters of the track is edged on 2 sides by a 10 foot sound barrier and encompassed by a wooded area on the other 2 sides. The 1.6 km track has been designed as a fast-paced, physically-demanding, bar-banging course with numerous jumps and the blending in of a few doubles. The track creates tall sand berms that provide an excellent whoop-riding experience and it is highly recommended for anyone with a desire to build up their stamina and endurance. The track has been designed with safety in mind and it offers great overall spectator views. The Dunes offers an excellent opportunity for riders to learn to pick different lines and it is a soft sand practice track for those needing to tune up for the East Coast Nationals.
GoPher Dunes is located on Highway 59, 30 minutes south of Woodstock. It is located 5 km south of Hwy 3 in Courtland, which is a main highway connecting Windsor to Fort Erie.
To reach GoPher Dunes dirt biking from Highway 401, use exit to Highway 59 Woodstock/Delhi and turn south onto 59. Travel for about 10 min. until you come to a small hamlet called Holbrook. You will see an Als Tire on your right and a sign for Oxford Road 13. You must veer off to your right onto 13 (do not follow 59 which makes a sharp curve to the left). Follow Oxford Road 13 for close to 10 minutes until you reach a small village called Springford and you come to a dead end stop. To continue travelling south, you must make a quick jaunt to the left and a quick right. After another 5 minutes you will come to stoplights. This is where Oxford Road 13 ends, and you cross over Hwy. 3 and will be back on Hwy 59 South. From the stoplights you travel 5 km. further and Gopher Dunes will be on your right hand side.
Directions from Hwy 3: Travelling from the East you will go through Simcoe, Delhi and when you get past Courtland, you must turn left at the stoplights onto Hwy 59 and travel south for 5 km. Travelling from the West you will go through St. Thomas, Aylmer, bypass Tillsonburg and you will reach the stoplights just before Courtland, where you turn right onto Hwy 59 and travel south for 5 km.
There are signs posted by the roadside and an oval shaped pond is visible from the road.
