Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area For Dirt Biking

The 40th most popular offroad motorcycle trail in Arizona.

East of Tucson and southeast of Safford, the 2,000 acre Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area has rolling sand dunes open to dirt biking. There are low, sparsely vegetated dunes for those preferring a slower paced ride, while several larger dunes provide challenges for the more adventurous riders.

To reach the trailhead from Safford, head east on SR70 for 7 miles. Turn south on Haekel Road for 25 miles in Hot Wells.

Overall, Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area is the 40th most popular dirt bike trail of all 46 dirt biking rides in Arizona.
