North of Edmonton and west of Athabasca, the Long Island Lake area has 200km of cross-country dirt bike riding running from Long Lake north to the Trans-Canada Trail.

To reach the Long Island Lake trailhead from Edmonton, head west on Highway 16. Head north on Highway 44 to Highway 663. Turn right heading east on Highway 663 to the trailhead. The trail runs north from Highway 663.

Overall, Long Island Lake is the 10th most popular dirt bike trail of all 38 dirt biking rides in Alberta. Several of the better dirt bike trails are nearby Long Island Lake including Brazeau Reservoir ORV Staging Area, Brule Lake Sand Dunes, Barrys Ultra Motorsports Park, Cadomin / Mountain Park ORV Staging Area, Chisholm and Dead Horse Meadows ORV Staging AreaElinor Lake ORV Staging Area.
