West of Rapid City in the Black Hills National Forest, the 111 mile Centennial Trail (Trail #89) is a north-south dirt bike trail for exploring a diverse cross-section of the Black Hills. The trail runs from Bear Butte in the north to Wind Cave in the south.
North of Fort Pierre, the Oahe Downstream OHV Area has over 400 acres open to dirt biking in hilly grassland and river bluffs. This is an open riding area with no designated trails. The boundary of the open riding area is marked.
North of Sundance in the Black Hills National Forest, the Bear Lodge Mountains have miles of forest roads open to off-road motorcycle trails riding. The elevations range from 4,000 to 7,000 feet. Make sure you have the current Wyoming ORV permit.
