In northwest Solvenia near Bovec, the Julian Alps offer rolling plains, jewel lakes and open pine forests within the craggy limestone alps.

There is a 21 mile hut-to-hut traverse of the Julian Alps which traverses Mount Triglav (9,396 feet). The hiking route starts in Trenta, near Bovec, and finishes in Stara Fuzina in the Bohinj region five days later.
