Northwest of Milan and south of Aosta, the Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso has 450 km of spectacular hiking trails. The Kings Trail is a 34 mile route up 4,000 feet of vertical carved by the peasants of King Vittorio Emanuele II.

Make sure to keep an eye out for chamois and ibex (plus watch out for viper snakes) while attempting another scenic route up to the beautiful Lago Di Beauregard surrounded by alpine flowers.

Overall, Gran Paradiso National Park is the 9th most popular hiking trail of all 12 hikes in Italy.
