The 10 mile round-trip hike on the Monitor Ridge Trails is a strenuous but non-technical ascent to the sawtoothed rim overlooking the crater and growing lava dome. Be prepared for the 4,600 feet vertical climb through some loose ash.

Overall, Monitor Ridge Trail is the 7th most popular hiking trail of all 56 hikes in Washington.
