Near Bend in the Deschutes National Forest, the 12 mile Moraine Lake Trail leads to the volcanic summit of South Sister (10,358) past the name sake lake in the Three Sisters Wilderness.

To reach the trailhead from Bend, take Cascade Lakes Highway 46 to Mount Bachelor Ski Area (22 miles) and continue 4.5 miles west to the trailhead. Start hiking north up the trail along Fall Creek. The Moraine Lake Trail turn off is about 2.5 miles in. The trailhead altitude is about 5,500 .

Overall, Moraine Lake Trail is the 7th most popular hiking trail of all 21 hikes in Oregon. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Moraine Lake Trail including Green Lakes Loop Trail and Metolius-Windigo Trail.
