Near Lake Placid, the 11 mile Rocky Peak Ridge trails is a scramble to Giant Peak and along a fabulous ridge with vistas into Vermont. To reach the hiking trailhead from US87, use Exit 30 and continue west for 6.2 miles to trailhead parking.

Overall, Rocky Peak Ridge is the 5th most popular hiking trail of all 49 hikes in New York. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Rocky Peak Ridge including Northville-Lake Placid Trail and Tongue Mountain Trail.
