On the south side of the valley, a new 5km hiking trail traverses the treeline under the notorious North Wall of the Eiger peak from Eiger Glacier Station (Station Eigergletsher) near Kleine Scheidegg down to Alpiglen. The path passes fascinating rock formations and waterfalls, with glimpses of the White Spider, ice fields and the village below.

Overall, Eiger Trail is the 2nd most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in Switzerland. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Eiger Trail including Grindelwald, Alpenrose Trail, Marmot Valley Trail and Interlaken.
