Above the north side of the valley, a 4km trail runs through the Murmeltieral from the First station on the Firsthorn gondola towards Grosse Scheidegg. Either return to First station or wait at Grosse for a bus back to town (check schedule!). All hiking trails are well-worn and signed.

Overall, Marmot Valley Trail is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in Switzerland. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Marmot Valley Trail including Grindelwald, Eiger Trail, Alpenrose Trail and Interlaken.
