Hiking The Cloud Peak Wilderness

The 3rd most popular hiking trail in Wyoming.

West of Buffalo and east of Ten Sleep, the Cloud Peak Wilderness is at the glaciated core of the Bighorn Mountains and has spectacular alpine lakes and glacial carved valleys. There is a great 42 mile loop hiking, starting on the east side near Hunter, that allows access to the Bighorn's sheer mountain walls and crystal-clear lakes. Try the side trail over Angeline Pass to Mirror Lake.

To reach the hiking trailhead from Buffalo, head west on US16 for 13 miles. Turn north onto FS19 for two miles to trailhead parking.

Overall, Cloud Peak Wilderness is the 3rd most popular hiking trail of all 18 hikes in Wyoming.
