North of Roanoke and Clifton Forge in the Douthat State Park, the 9 mile Stony Run Falls Trail passes two seasonal falls: Stony Run and Blue Suck. This hiking trail is best in in the spring when trilliums are in bloom.

The Douthat State Park has more than 40 miles of wooded trails to choose from throughout the year, ranging from easy to difficult. The trails are shared by hikers and mountain bikers.

To reach the trailhead from Clifton Forge on US64, use Exit 27. Head north on CR629 for 5 miles into the DSP.

Overall, Douthat State Park is the 5th most popular hiking trail of all 23 hikes in Virginia.
