Hiking The Mount Rose Trail
The 15th most popular hiking trail in Washington.

Northwest of Olympia and Hoodsport near Lake Cushman, the 6.4 mile Mount Rose Trail #814 is nice for day hiking, climbing and wildlife observation. Some views of Lake Cushman, Prospect Ridge, Dow Mountain and Lightning Peak can be seen on the ascent and fantastic views of Bear Gulch, Mt. Ellinor, Mt. Washington, Mt. Pershing and the distant Huckleberry drainage can be seen from the summit. The total elevation gain is from 800 feet to 4300
To reach the trailhead, follow Hwy 101 to Hoodsport. Turn on State Route 119 (Lake Cushman Rd) and travel 9.0 mi to the junction with FS Rd #24. Turn left and drive approx- imately 3.0 mi. to trailhead on the right. NOTE: Limited parking at trailhead.
