In northwestern Lake Superior, the 30 mile Minong Ridge Trail on the upper side of the island is one of the least used, yet is a premier hike along ridgelines and streams. Plenty of wildlife, including loons, wolves and eagles.

Overall, Minong Ridge is the 6th most popular hiking trail of all 32 hikes in Michigan. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Minong Ridge including Greenstone Ridge Trail and Feldtmann Ridge / Greenstone Ridge Loop.
