Hiking The Quartz Lake Trail

Northwest of Golden in the Purcell Mountains, the Quartz Lake Trail is a difficult 5km out & back to the namesake lake through pristine wilderness. To reach the hiking trailhead from Golden, head west on the TransCanada Highway #1 for about 40km. Turn onto Quartz Creek Road for 7.5km and park at the trailhead on the left.

Overall, Quartz Lake Trail is the 3rd most popular hiking trail of all 18 hikes in British Columbia. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Quartz Lake Trail including Dawn Mountain Trail, Valenciennes Canyon, Mummy Glacier, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Yoho National Park and Mt. MacPherson.
