North of Liverpool in the Lake District National Park, the village of Ambleside makes a great base to explore the wild and scenic hiking trails near Troutbeck, Kentmore and in the Grizedale Forest. Ambleside is located at the north end of Lake Windermere. From the north, exit M6 at junction 40 (Pernith) and proceed west on A46. Turn left onto A592 over Kirkstone Pass. At a fork, bear right into the village.

Overall, Ambleside Trails is the 1st most popular hiking trail of all 16 hikes in UK. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Ambleside Trails including Grizedale Park Trails, Coniston Water and Elterwater National Trust.
