East of Morgantown, the 12,700 acre Coopersrock State Forest has 50 miles of rocky, diverse, and challenging trails including Scotts Run, Rock City, Ravens Rock, and Rhododendron Trail. The hikes pass through dense, rolling forests with rhododendron and mountain laurel.
To reach the trailhead from Morgantown, head east on US68 to Exit 15. Turn left heading south and follow signs. Trail maps availalble at gift shop.
Overall, Coopersrock State Forest is the 3rd most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in West Virginia.
