East of Parkersburg near Waverly, the Mountwood Park system consists of 25 miles of wooded trails with moderate climbing. The trails are spread over 2,600 acres of rolling woodlands.

The trail system is numbered.

To reach the hiking trailhead from Parkersburg, head east on SR50 for 12 miles. Exit at Volcano Road.

Overall, Mountwood Park is the 13th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in West Virginia.
