South of Morgantown and Fairmount, the 1,100 acre Valley Falls State Park has 18 miles of hiking trails within the Tygart Valley River gorge.

To reach the hiking trailhead from Fairmount, head south on US79 to Exit 137. Follow SR310 south for 7 miles. Turn right into park.

Overall, Valley Falls State Park is the 6th most popular hiking trail of all 15 hikes in West Virginia.
