North of Jackson and south of Tupelo, a stretch of the Natchez Trace Parkway passes through a section of the Tombigbee National Forest. Parallel to this stretch of parkway, there is a 18 mile hiking section of the Natchez Trace Trail running US41 northwest of Okolona southbound to SR8 southeast of Houston.

Overall, Natchez Trace Trail is the 4th most popular hiking trail of all 10 hikes in Mississippi.
