Hiking The Longleaf Horse Trail System

The 5th most popular hiking trail in Mississippi.

South of Laurel, the Longleaf Horse Trail System consists of three loops open to hiking totaling 26 miles.

The trails are marked with orange and white arrows blazed on trees along each loop. The Long loop is marked in white. The arrows are placed at strategic points along the trials to make it easy to follow.

A Trailriders Camp is located at the beginning of the system on Forest Service Road 213 B.

The hiking trailhead is located about 17 miles south of Laurel.

Overall, Longleaf Horse Trail System is the 5th most popular hiking trail of all 10 hikes in Mississippi. Several of the better hiking trails are nearby Longleaf Horse Trail System including South Loop Bethel Trail, Black Creek Trail and Tuxachanie Trail.
